British billionaire and hedge fund manager Chris Rokos is moving his tax residency to Greece but plans to continue a major £175 million restoration project at his historic Wiltshire estate.

Rokos, one of Britain’s highest individual taxpayers, has reportedly decided to retain Tottenham House near Marlborough despite leaving the UK, according to a report by The Telegraph.

The 55 year old financier is estimated to have a net worth of around $4 billion and manages more than £15 billion through his hedge fund business.

£175 Million Restoration to Continue

The billionaire has been transforming the 18th century Tottenham House into a major family residence. The sprawling estate includes around 100 rooms and is being renovated through a series of ambitious projects.

Plans include a tennis pavilion, cinema room and solar farm, among other improvements.

The restoration is not expected to be completed until spring 2028.

A source close to the project said the work would continue as planned and that there were currently no plans to sell the property.

“The estate is not habitable at the moment,” the source said, adding that Rokos still expects to spend significant time at the property once the restoration is complete.

The decision to retain the mansion could also leave open the possibility of Rokos spending more time in Britain in the future.

Chris Rokos Moves Tax Residency to Greece

Rokos became one of the latest wealthy Britons to relocate abroad, with Greece reportedly becoming his new base.

His departure comes amid concerns among high earners and investors over the direction of UK tax policy and the prospect of further tax increases targeting wealthy individuals.

Despite changing his residency, Rokos appears to remain closely connected to Britain through his property holdings, business interests and philanthropic activities.

He is estimated to have paid more than £330 million in UK taxes last year, making him one of the country’s biggest individual taxpayers.

That figure is equivalent to the combined tax contribution of thousands of average UK households.

Major Cambridge Donation

Rokos has also maintained strong links with British institutions.

Earlier this year, he made a record £190 million donation to the University of Cambridge, funding the establishment of the Rokos School of Government.

His philanthropic activities have made him one of Britain’s most significant private donors.

Historic Tottenham House

Tottenham House has a long history dating back centuries and was formerly associated with the Earl of Cardigan and the Savernake Estate.

The surrounding land was once part of a royal hunting forest and has historical connections to the Tudor period.

The family of Jane Seymour, the third wife of King Henry VIII, also lived in the area at Wolf Hall.

Rokos owns another historic English property, Mawley Hall in Shropshire, an 18th century Baroque country house that he purchased in 2018. The property has also undergone repair and restoration work.

For now, Tottenham House remains at the centre of Rokos’s ambitious British property projects, even as the billionaire establishes his new life and tax residency in Greece.
