Iran Lifts 2,000km Missile Range Limit, Raises European Concerns
by Bill Giannopoulos · Greek City TimesIran has lifted its self-imposed 2,000-kilometre missile range restriction, with a senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) official warning that Tehran is no longer bound by the previous limit.
IRGC spokesperson Brigadier General Mohebbi announced the decision on Saturday, confirming that the restriction had been removed.
“That restriction has been lifted for us,” he said.

Even under the previous 2,000km limit, Iranian missiles could potentially reach parts of at least six European countries, including Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, North Macedonia and Serbia.
The announcement comes amid growing concerns over Iran’s missile capabilities, following reports earlier this year of an attempted Iranian strike targeting Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, approximately 4,000 kilometres from Iranian territory.
However, Tehran has not disclosed a new maximum missile range, and there has been no independently verified demonstration of an Iranian missile successfully travelling beyond the previously stated 2,000km limit.
The removal of the restriction raises further questions about the potential reach of Iran’s missile programme and its implications for European and regional security.
