At Least 10 People Faint Waiting to Farewell Giorgos Mazonakis

by · Greek City Times

At least 10 people fainted while waiting outside the Holy Trinity Church in Nikaia on Sunday where thousands gathered to pay their respects to beloved Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis.

Mazonakis’ body arrived at the church shortly after 7:30pm for the public viewing, but crowds had gathered in the area much earlier and continued to grow as the evening progressed.

The large crowds, high temperatures and prolonged periods of standing caused several people to faint in recent hours. EKAV emergency responders provided first aid to those affected.

Ambulances remain outside the Holy Trinity Church as mourners continue to gather. Crews have assisted those who fainted, and none required transport to hospital.

In some cases, members of the crowd had to make way for ambulances to reach people who needed assistance.
