Euroleague Basketball and ABA League held a meeting in Barcelona for talks aimed at driving sustainable growth and innovation across European basketball.

Additional details were shared in a joint announcement on Wednesday.

Per the press release: “On Tuesday, May 5, leadership from the ABA League visited the Euroleague Basketball Headquarters in Barcelona for a high-level meeting with Chief Executive Officer Chus Bueno and senior executives.

The discussions centered on identifying opportunities to further strengthen European basketball from both a sporting and commercial perspective. Emphasis was placed on fostering sustainable growth, enhancing competition structures, and unlocking new avenues for value creation across the basketball ecosystem.

Both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining an open and constructive dialogue, with a shared intention to explore the development of a long-term strategic partnership aimed at deepening collaboration and driving continued innovation within the sport.”

Both the continental and regional leagues are currently navigating the Playoffs of their respective 2025-26 calendars en route to crowning new champions. The ABA League, which is known as the AdmiralBet ABA League due to a name sponsorship agreement, serves as a vital competitive hub that features teams from several different countries. The majority of these clubs hail from the former Yugoslavia, including the rich basketball traditions of Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia. Meanwhile, the EuroLeague featured clubs from 11 different countries this season.

This meeting marks a potential strategic partnership to align these diverse markets toward a more unified and commercially robust future for European basketball.
