Denver Nuggets teammates Nikola Jokic and Aaron Gordon presented the latest edition of their respective signature shoes on Sunday.
The press conference in Denver’s Ball Arena featured an interesting note on the Serbian superstar’s shoe selection for each game.
“I’m wearing the same shoes if it’s a winning streak. When you lose, I’m changing the shoes no matter what,” he revealed. “This year, we had a lot of wins. So, I’m wearing pretty much five or six different pairs since the season started.”
Commenting on a much more complicated approach by Gordon, looking to combine each Nuggets uniform with the most suitable shoe color, the Joker labeled the number of possible selections for his teammate as ridiculous.
JOKER 2 and AG 6, and specifically the numeral designation of their newest official sneakers with 361 Degrees, were the inspiration for more jokes between Jokic and Gordon. Among other exchanges in the same context, the American combo forward constantly reminded the Serbian center that he is not catching up on new versions.
The Sombor native also recalled Gordon visiting his hometown in Serbia to launch his partnership with 361.
“AG came to my hometown. We had a great time,” confirmed 30-year-old Jokic. “He introduced me to the 361 company and, of course, we have great chemistry on the floor. So, it’s good to have somebody who is basically with you through every part of the day. You can see this in a shoe, he’s coming back to Serbia, or whatever. I think I’m really privileged to have a teammate and friend as an agent.”
“I’m just glad we have Joker on the team now, too, because it’s really, really great shoe brand, one of the best in the world, and you got the best ball-player in the world, too. So, it goes hand in hand,” said 30-year-old Gordon, earlier in the press conference.
Furthermore, Jokic talked about his new shoes.
“The logo is on the side, not on the top, and the shoelace is a little bit different,” he compared them to the JOKER 1 installment, after relaying personal discussions with designers to introduce new components every year.
