Fenerbahce released an official statement regarding the future of European basketball, confirming that the club has renewed its EuroLeague licensing agreement, which was due to expire at the end of the current season.
The Turkish powerhouse stated that it has been “constructively evaluating the various projects and organizational initiatives” surrounding the future of the sport, while emphasizing that its approach has “never been divisive” and has always aimed to contribute to European basketball “through collective effort.”
Fenerbahce also revealed that it is closely following NBA Europe’s vision and growing involvement in European basketball.
“We are also closely monitoring NBA Europe’s vision for European basketball and its perspective on the global development of the game. We consider this interest, along with other investment initiatives, to be highly valuable for the future of European basketball,” the statement read.
The club stressed that the full potential of European basketball can only be reached if all stakeholders unite around a common vision off the court.
“It is Fenerbahce’s core belief that the true potential of European basketball will only be reached by restricting competition to be just on the court while uniting all stakeholders off the court under a shared vision.”
According to the statement, the club believes that potential future collaborations between the EuroLeague and NBA Europe could play an important role in the growth of the sport across the continent.
“Therefore, we are confident that potential future collaborations and mutual development opportunities between the EuroLeague and NBA Europe will make significant contributions to the sport in Europe.”
Fenerbahce also reiterated its commitment to supporting “constructive dialogue” aimed at growing and advancing European basketball, while underlining that its ambitions go beyond sporting success alone.
“Our objective extends beyond merely achieving sporting success; we aim to contribute to the sustainable growth, economic empowerment, and global brand elevation of European basketball.”
The statement concluded with the club reaffirming its intention to continue taking responsibility for the future development of the game in Europe.
