It has earned the nickname of 'Black-Eye Friday' as people hit the bars and pubs en masse to celebrate the start of the Christmas break - but it was all smiles at STACK in Newcastle city centre on Friday, December 19 as revellers kicked off the festive period in style.

On the last Friday before the big day, the new venue which opened its doors earlier this month was packed out with those getting together for work parties and catch-ups with friends before settling in for Christmas.

The food and drink hub has a new home in Worswick Chambers just down the road from its first Pilgrim Street base, which closed to make way for the new Pilgrim Quarter development. Inside are eight bars, eight street food traders, a coffee shop and an outdoor terrace with a stage for live entertainment.

Partygoers were treated to live music throughout the day from Jason Isaacs, Spilt Milk and Yo Man Funk Band, before DJ Playmoor closed the night off with a lively set.

Both STACK Newcastle and sister venue STACK St James outside the NUFC stadium have confirmed that they will be open every day over the festive period except Christmas Day, perfect for those last-minute shoppers in need of a well-earned rest and refresh after hitting the high street.
