Raving in the rain in 18 photos as thousands pack out second day of Colosseum in Newcastle
by Simon Duke, Iain Buist · ChronicleLiveRain most definitely did not stop play in Newcastle on Sunday as thousands attended the second day of massive dance event Colosseum in Times Square and didn't let the wet weather ruin their day and night. And we were there to catch some of them having a ball.
In the days and weeks leading up to Colosseum, it had been billed as the biggest dance event in Newcastle in years, with no expense spared in its production or line-up. The event site was definitely like nothing Tyneside had ever seen before, with a space reminiscent of something you'd see in Ibiza, as organisers Evnt Live pulled out all the stops to make sure it was a weekend to remember.
Things got off to a scorching start on Saturday, with the sun shining high over Newcastle as the gorgeous weather from Friday, when temperatures peaked at 23 degrees, thankfully continued on. The music was also read hot too, as the likes of headliners Blk. x Azyr entertained and the packed crowd were even treated to a remix of Justin Bieber's Beauty and a Beat earlier on in the day.
Sunday took over where Saturday left off, with Bass Jamz hosting as Wal and Caul.E got things going in style, giving way to sets from other acts like Wildish and Ella. And, while the weather was in stark contrast to just 24 hours earlier, the thousands who headed down to Times Square for one hell of a Bank Holiday did not let the rain stop them from doing just that, although a few plastic ponchos were donned to protect some of the fabulous outfits on show.
ChronicleLive headed down early evening just as things were really heating up. If you know anyone who was there, or were in amongst it yourself, check our our photos from Colosseum day two below...
