From Brazil: Liverpool set to submit €15m bid, club likely to accept

Liverpool are preparing to submit an offer for Gabriel Mec, with Grêmio expecting an offer around €15m for the 17-year-old.

Brazilian journalist Fábio Vargas reports that the proposal should arrive early next week. According to the same information, Grêmio do not intend to reject the offer. Instead, the club plan to negotiate and push the value higher, as they already see the expected figure as positive.

This represents a clear step forward in Liverpool’s pursuit. The Premier League side have monitored Mec for some time. However, this would be their first formal move in the current cycle, shortly before the January window opens.

Mec has already experienced concrete talks with European clubs. Earlier this season, he revealed that Grêmio accepted an offer from Shakhtar Donetsk. The deal later collapsed after the player decided to remain in Brazil. At the time, he stressed that timing influenced his decision.

Since then, Mec has kept his focus on his development at Grêmio. He has also acknowledged that strong performances would keep European clubs interested.

Grêmio now face a crucial moment. Interest has intensified. Liverpool are ready to move. The Brazilian club expect talks to advance quickly once the bid arrives, especially as they seek to maximise the fee before agreeing to any deal.

Gabriel Mec doesn’t trun 18 until April. He wouldn’t be allowed to physically move to Europe until then, so Liverpool would need a loan.
