Wolves Loan Watch: International return after 10 months, quick rise continues

Tolu Arokodare has been recalled to the Nigerian national team after a ten-month absence, adding to the positive early vibes of loan to his loan at Ajax from Wolves.

The striker has been included in the international set up as a reward for a strong start to his time in Amsterdam.

Ajax success

He joined the Dutch club on loan from Wolves in the summer, following a toxic end to his time at Molineux, and has quickly made a positive start at the club. He has not only climbed the pecking order but also managed five goals and two assists in eight games to date.

Those performances have not gone unnoticed by Nigeria head coach Éric Chelle. He’s now called up the 25-year-old to the Super Eagles squad despite him missing the last two international breaks.

Nigeria are set to face Madagascar on September 25th. A clash with Guinea-Bissau follows that. Both games are part of the Africa Cup of Nations. Whether the striker gets a starting spot, given the competition is Victor Osimhen, remains to be seen.

But it is another major positive for the striker, who is quickly justifying his exit from Wolves at the end of the window.

What’s happening with the others

Arokodare is one of five Wolves players out on loan at this moment in time. There was very much an exodus in that regard following relegation last season.

He’s been the most successful so far. But the rest are looking to pick up the pace in the coming weeks.

Sport Witness have already reported how Hwang Hee-Chan is looking emulate Spanish icon Raul while one loan at Schalke.

Then there’s youngster Pedro Lima. He explained this week how he pushed for a longer loan deal at Sao Paulo. He wants more playing time than he could get at Molineux.

The youngster will, perhaps, be hoping to enjoy the kind of rise that Arokodare is now managing at Ajax.
