From the cheap Neo to the high-end Pro, there's plenty to consider

Right now is a great time to pick up a new MacBook. Not only have several new models hit the market recently, but they've received price cuts at Amazon and other leading retailers.

Even better still, there's a model for everyone right now, thanks to the release of the new MacBook Neo. That starts at just $589 (was $599) at Amazon today, which is an almost unbelievable price considering what the Neo is capable of. If someone had said a year ago that a brand new MacBook would be available for under $600, I wouldn't have believed them.

Moving up in price, most people will find the MacBook Air 13 for $949 (was $1,099) as a great middle ground between the budget Neo and the pricey Pro models. The M5 chipset and 16GB of RAM inside this iteration mean it's a meaningful step-up from the Neo in terms of performance, and you also get better ports and speakers. Today's deal at Amazon also brings this brand-new model down to a record-low price.

Finally, there's also the MacBook Pro M5 for $1,549 (was $1,699) at Amazon. This is $50 off the previous record-low, but it's still a very good price cut for the latest iteration. Alongside the powerful M5 chipset and 1TB of storage, the Pro model's expanded ports and stunning Liquid Retina XDR display make it a fantastic option for professionals. Again, a terrific deal in the mid to upper ranges for a laptop.

Apple MacBook Neo: was £599 now £589 at Amazon

The MacBook Neo is back in stock with all colours at Amazon today, with a small price cut, too. The latest MacBook packs a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, an A18 Pro chip, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and up to 16 hours of battery life, all for under $600. It's no wonder that this latest model is already proving to be a best seller.

Apple MacBook Air 13 (M5, 512GB): was $1,099 now $949 at Amazon

Amazon has just listed a brand new record-low price on the latest Apple MacBook Air 13 — barely a month after this model's release. With an impressive $150 discount, this deal addresses our main complaint with the M5 Air: namely, that it's pricier than the previous model. Now, you're getting the latest chipset, 16GB of RAM, and a bigger 512GB SSD for much less, with a price that arguably challenges even the budget MacBook Neo when it comes to outright value.

Today's best deal on the MacBook Pro brings the latest 14-inch model down to just $1,549 — a price that's within $50 of the lowest ever at Amazon. While pricey, the MacBook Pro starts with a spacious 1TB storage drive and delivers serious performance thanks to its cooling fans (something the Air lacks). If you're looking for the ultimate MacBook, this is a great deal overall, for sure.

Why now is a good time to pick up a MacBook

Aside from the fact that there's a MacBook for pretty much everyone right now, I suspect these price cuts at Amazon and other retailers will be unbeaten for a few months down the line. Even with the Memorial Day sales just around the corner, I doubt that retailers will post discounts much better than this - these are brand new models, after all.

Today's deal on the MacBook Air M5 is particularly good, since it addresses the main issue we had with the model when we reviewed it earlier this year. We loved the new chipset and increased storage, but felt the upcharge in price was a little steep considering it has the same design and display as the previous iteration. Now, it's much easier on the pocket, however.
