There’s perhaps a bit of irony in the fact that, despite being a writer covering the latest consumer technology, I’m sometimes quite slow to replace my tech, so in an attempt to fix that, I’m shopping the Amazon Big Smile Sale this week to find some worthwhile (and affordable) upgrades.

I’ve set myself a maximum budget of just AU$50 per item (including multi-packs where applicable) and I’m choosing tech that will hopefully bring some meaningful impact to my daily routine.

Some of the items here are upgrades to stuff I already own, like the digital weighing scale replacing an old analogue one, while a few others will be new entrants to my household like the smart home tech. I’ve even added a digital thermometer so I can fine tune my cooking during my weekend meal prep.
