High-grade whisky needn’t break the bank, especially on Prime Day. You can currently pick up a 70cl bottle of the Glenlivet Founder's Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky with Giftbox for just £22.99 - that's a 42% discount, down from £39.50.

The deal beats out Tesco's Clubcard offer (£26, £35 without). This Speyside-distilled, sweet, fruity whisky is a very popular choice, standing as Amazon’s current bestseller, and it would make a great gift this Christmas. Alternatively, you could always throw away the gift box and enjoy a highly discounted bottle for yourself.

On its own you can enjoy notes of orange, pear, and toffee apples with a smooth, almost creamy finish, but this 40% whisky is also brilliant in cocktails. For example, if you mix 50ml of Glenlivet with 10ml lime juice, 120ml coconut water and two dashes of bitters over ice, you have a refreshing mixed drink known as 'the Carnivale'. Alternatively, as the weather gets grimmer, it's perfect in a hot toddy.

From over 10,000 reviews, the Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve has an average rating of 4.8 stars — a glowing endorsement from Amazon’s community of whisky fans. “This will always remain the go to for a great value for money single malt. Very smooth and has the great Glenlivet taste,” said one five-star review.

Another rave review added: “The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky stands as a testament to the brand's legacy of crafting exceptional spirits. From its exquisite flavour profile to its impeccable presentation, this whisky is a true embodiment of single malt excellence.” A third review was simpler in its praise, calling the whisky: “Absolutely gorgeous."

A small minority of reviews mention disappointment at the flavour profile. “Disappointingly flat aroma and taste, from the first sniff to now halfway down the bottle,” said one. "I was surprised by how harsh it tasted," another wrote - showing how personal something like whisky can be.

That said, with five-star reviews making up 83% of Amazon’s total, it’s fair to say the vast majority are big fans of this Glenlivet whisky. If you did want to shop around, there are plenty of other Prime Day discounts to pick up. These include Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack Patek Phillipe Limited Edition Whiskey at £36.95 down from £45.40, which has a more mellow flavour profile.

Alternatively, Japanese whisky is becoming increasingly well-regarded - if you've never tried a tipple from there, a great place to start is the Toki Suntory Whisky with Limited Edition Gift Box, which is £30, down from £36.50. Alternatively, House of Malt have cut the prices of their whiskies, with Glen Moray Chardonnay Cask down to £24.85.
