People Are Sounding Off After Republicans Proposed $1 Billion For Trump's Once "Tax-Free" Ballroom

I really want to hear the end of Donald Trump's ballroom shenanigans, but unfortunately, today isn't that day —especially after learning that Republicans have proposed a funding bill that includes $1 billion set aside for security improvements for the upcoming ballroom. Yes, that's $1 billion of your taxpayer dollars.

If you recall, Trump was adamant for months that the ballroom would not utilize taxpayer dollars.

"We did this at no charge to the taxpayer whatsoever. This was all donations made by friends of mine and people that love our country," he said at the Governors dinner back in February 2026. "It will be totally, totally tax-free. Not one penny of tax will be donated to this."

He also continually gave different figures for the cost of the ballroom. "I think it'll cost 250 million dollars," he said in September. He then quoted "about $300 million" in October. The figure rose again in December to approximately $400 million. "I think I'll do it for less, but it's [$400 million]," he said.

Karoline Leavitt, his press secretary, also reiterated the "$300 million" estimate back in October, when a reporter questioned why the number kept rising. "$300 million is the figure, and, again, it's not gonna cost the taxpayers a dime," she said.

Well, nothing is entirely clear on this ballroom saga — except that NO ONE seems sure about the actual cost. And now, with some Republicans proposing $1 billion in taxpayer dollars for ballroom security, people are sounding off about the switch-up online:

"Trump’s ballroom went from $200M to $300M to $400M, and now Congress wants $1B for a tacky gold ballroom. We aren’t being governed. We’re being fucking looted."

"The part of 'fiscal responsibility' is going to spend $1 billion on a ballroom while cutting food stamps and welfare to the poor."

"Trump spoke the truth … he said not 1 penny of taxpayer money would be spent when instead it’s 100,000,000,000 taxpayer pennies!"

Some are like, "No shit," he was going to do this.

"Yeah no shit it was going to use taxpayer money. Were you all fucking born yesterday? Country full of people distracted by keys."

"We knew. We tried to tell MAGA repeatedly. They showed up, trolled us, and called us stupid. We were RIGHT all the fuck along."

"LOL. You dumb fucks over there realize you are paying for all of his stupid shit and fuck ups yet? He literally lies about everything, its been his brand. Gas Prices? Groceries? DOGE Checks? Tariffs? Tax Breaks For the Rich? Starting War w/ Iran? His fucking Ballroom? Leaving us all with the bill. Without fail whatever he says or tweets the opposite is true. 100% tested and proven. Everytime. A COMPLETE grifting fuck up."

And lastly, someone asked, "Are we great again yet?"
