LONDON — The long-delayed deal over the future of the Chagos Islands is being reviewed by the British government after Donald Trump criticized it as "terrible."

Defense Secretary Wes Streeting pledged Wednesday to work with the Trump administration to land an agreement over the Archipelago, which is home to the sensitive U.S. military base, Diego Garcia.

Streeting told Times Radio that the government would not ignore Trump's grievances with the deal — cautioning that "sticking our heads in the sand and hoping it won't go away" is not "a wise strategy."
