Blaze fully engulfs Cloverdale home Friday, says Surrey Fire

Surrey Fire Service says it took over 25 firefighters and seven fire trucks to knock down a house fire in Cloverdale Friday evening.

Assistant Chief Greg McRobbie says crews were called to a two-story house on 164th Street north of 52nd Avenue around 10 p.m.

When they arrived, they found the home fully engulfed in flames.

“Flames were visible from all sides, as well as through the roof,” McRobbie said.

A wall on the south side of the building had partially collapsed, he says.

Crews ended up spending the entire night fighting the flames.

“We also had five water shuttle trucks attend to provide the water, as the water in that area isn’t protected with fire hydrants, due to being a rural country setting,” he said.

No injuries have been reported, and McRobbie says he is unsure as to whether or not any residents have been displaced by the blaze.

There was no damage to neighbouring homes, and the scene was cleared around 6 a.m. Saturday, McRobbie said.

McRobbie say it’s too early to tell what caused the fire, and an investigation is set for Monday.
