New information has surfaced about Nancy Guthrie's family situation before her disappearance. Nancy's daughter, Annie, and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, had allegedly asked her for a loan.

The search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show's Savannah Guthrie, has officially crossed its 90-day mark, and there are still no solid leads about her whereabouts. Nancy, who vanished from her Arizona home earlier this year, remains missing, with speculations (both verified and non-verified) about possible suspects coming up on the internet. Now, a self-proclaimed investigator has come up with a new information about the days leading up to Nancy's abduction.

New claims once again shift focus on Annie Guthrie

There has not been much progress in the manhunt for Nancy Guthrie, and despite the Pima County Sheriff's Department clearing the octegenarian's family as possible suspects, the public can't seem to shake the belief that somebody from close circles were related in the kidnapping. After numerous speculations and dismissals, fingers are once again pointing towards Nancy's elder daughter, Annie Guthrie, and her husband, Tommaso Cioni.

Jonathan Lee Riches (@JLRINVESTIGATES), a self-styled investigator who has been covering Nancy Guthrie's disappearance on social media since the beginning, shared a new insight into the case. Taking to X, the investigator alleged that Annie had asked her mother for a loan shortly before her disappearance. His post reads:

"I'm told Annie asked Nancy Guthrie for a loan before she vanished from her home."

Before this, the page has shared yet another detail about Nancy Guthrie's Catalina Foothills home, writing, "Someone plans to move into Nancy Guthrie’s home. Who could it be?" Both posts have gained traction online, reigniting discussion whether the loan request had something to do with Nancy's disappearance. However, it should not be forgotten than all these claims remain speculative at best, until verified by credible sources.

Why Annie and Tommaso are constantly under scrutiny

Since the beginning of Nancy Guthrie's disappearance, public attention has largely centred around Annie and her husband, Tommaso Cioni, as they were among the last known people to see Nancy before she disappeared. They live within a 10-minute driving distance from Nancy's Catalina Foothills residence, and it was Tommaso who had dropped her off after a family dinner on the night of January 31, 2026. Fuelling the fire was NewsNation journalist Ashleigh Banfield, who had claimed on her podcast that Tommaso Cioni was a "prime suspect," citing an unverified law enforcement source.

Despite official statements clearing them, the timeline of events, along with repeated searches at the couple's home, have kept them under consistant scrutiny. Even a few days ago, the public's attention had shifted to Tommaso, when social media pointed out that he allegedly went out to watch the Olympics just a day after Nancy Guthrie was reported missing. The rest of the Guthrie family, including Savannah Guthrie, have strongly refuted all narratives, emphasising that both Annie and Tommaso shared a close and supportive relationship with Nancy.

What authorities have said so far about Nancy Guthrie's disappearance

Despite growing online theories, officials have been consistent in their stance that neither Annie, nor Tommaso, nor other members of the Guthrie family's inner circle are considered suspects. Investigators have instead shifted their focus on the physical evidence from the scene, including the nest camera surveillance footage of a still unidentified masked individual on Nancy's porch and other forensic analyses tied to the case. Recently, a forensic expert told TMZ that Nancy may have been killed already, given the blood spots at her house that resembled coughed-up blood.
