Although Yangon Region is expected to receive electricity for at least 16 hours daily, the Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC) announced that power is currently being distributed for a minimum of 12 hours 56 minutes and a maximum of 20 hours due to power line faults, load balancing, and sudden load surges between 9 pm and 10 pm.

Since April 22, electricity generation has gradually increased, allowing YESC to add 5.606 million more units of electricity per day. At present, about 65 million units are being generated and distributed daily.

Of the increased supply, an additional two million units are being distributed to Yangon Region on top of the original 30 million units allocated to the region.

YESC also said that public hospitals, important government departments, LNG-powered industrial zones, and businesses are receiving full-time electricity supply. Arrangements are also being made to provide more electricity to the public during holidays.
