Ariana Madix Is Developing a Futuristic Housewives Parody With Seth MacFarlane

Phew! With the Ted prequel series off the air, Seth MacFarlane briefly didn’t have more TV shows than there are stars in the sky. But he’s so back: There’s a Ted cartoon debuting soon, and he’s making a Real Housewives parody with Ariana Madix. Deadline is reporting that he and Brannon Braga are developing Future Housewives for Peacock. The show will be a futuristic mockumentary where socialites “juggle bioengineered beauty regimens, ruthless rivalries, and interplanetary scandals.” Madix will play a “young, starry-eyed outsider” whose entrée into that world shows how big of a divide there is between the Housewives and the plebs who don’t live in futuristic pleasure domes.

This isn’t the first collab between MacFarlane and Braga. The latter went from working on Star Trek properties (Next Gen, Voyager, Enterprise) to parodying them with MacFarlane on The Orville. And like The Orville, this series sounds like it will be an hour-long show that is technically a “drama” but jokier than some alleged comedies. Which is good for Madix, because she takes sketch comedy very seriously.
