Get Ready to Meet Bravo’s Real Hunting Wives
by Jason P. Frank · VULTUREWe can’t wait for the Saturday Night Live sketch about the Bravo version of the Netflix adaptation of the book Hunting Wives. Bravo has green-lit two new shows, one of which is called Secrets, Lies, Texas Wives and sounds like a reality version of the successful streaming soap. “In the heart of Texas Hill Country is the picture‑perfect town of Boerne where wealth, beauty, faith and family reign supreme,” Bravo wrote in a statement. “Centered on a tight-knit circle of glamorous women, this series follows their lives as they raise families, run ranches and farms and manage sparkling social calendars in a town rooted in rodeos and tradition. Behind the polished smiles and Sunday sermons, however, there are intimate relationships and forbidden romances that test loyalties and marriages, jeopardizing the town’s pristine image and proving that perfection is far more complicated than anyone could imagine.” If Bravo can find a “forbidden” gay romance among wives like on the Netflix drama, the network should get a Nobel prize.
This isn’t the first time that Bravo has potentially been devising its shows based on a scripted-television success. The original Real Housewives series was inspired by the success of ABC’s hit TV series Desperate Housewives. “From Peyton Place to Desperate Housewives, viewers have been riveted by the fictionalized versions of such lifestyles on television,” producer Lauren Zalaznick said when Real Housewives was first announced in 2006. “Now, here is a series that depicts real-life ‘desperate’ housewives with an authentic look at their compelling day-to-day drama.” In 2026, this new series will do the same thing but with a big-haired Texan twang.
Accompanying the sexy Texas show will be a spin-off: Vanderpump Rules: Lisa Las Vegas, which follows Lisa Vanderpump’s attempts to open a new hotel in Las Vegas. Additionally, Real Housewives of Rhode Island is getting an early renewal for season two. Its freshman season is currently the No. 2–rated Bravo show across all platforms, behind Beverly Hills. Someone get out the crackuhs and inform the dolls because it’s time to celebrate.
