So Many People Voted in Love Island USA There Was a Delay

by · VULTURE

The Love Island USA app crashed so badly that Thursday night’s recoupling was rescheduled to Friday. Boo! But in the spirit of America, Peacock made sure to check and recheck their votes to accurately reflect what its viewers want to see. There was a nearly 350% increase in votes from last year’s finale vote to this year’s first vote of the season, with more than 1 million votes participating, according to THR. When voting opened on Tuesday night, most users encountered a network error while trying to decide who they wanted the bombshells to couple up with. Eventually, the crash was fixed, and LI:USA extended the voting period until Wednesday afternoon. Some viewers, like me, were foolishly hopeful that the votes would still be tallied in time. Towards the end of Thursday night’s episode, voice-over narrator Iain Stirling revealed that because the app crashed, the recoupling was moved to Friday night, hopefully giving the first Aftersun episode plenty to discuss. Will America be messy once again, pairing Sol with Sincere, basically recreating last year’s drama when Jeremiah was paired with Iris? Or will it become Sincere’s “I pick Clarke” moment? Either way, you’ll need to give Melanie more than 10.
