Trisha Paytas on the ‘Devastating’ Ethan Klein Cheating Scandal

by · VULTURE

After the H3 cheating scandal broke containment last week, the internet has been waiting to see what Trisha Paytas has to say. On October 23, Hila Klein, who hosts H3 Podcast with her husband, Ethan Klein, posted a lengthy statement announcing Klein’s ongoing affair and the indefinite hiatus of their shared podcast. The couple has been together for almost 20 years and built a media company together, which Paytas was once part of, co-hosting Frenemies with Klein. Paytas is married to Hila’s brother, Moses Hacmon. Paytas and Hacmon have not been on speaking terms with the Kleins for years. Paytas’s perspective on the affair, which Hila says Ethan confirmed to be true, felt valuable not only because they’re family but also because of Paytas’s own hostile past with Ethan. In a new episode of her Just Trish podcast, Paytas and Hacmon broke a firm boundary they set five years ago to explain how this news is impacting their family.

“I pleaded at the time if we could just call a truce and to never talk about each other anymore, especially because we were family and there was other family involved that’s, like, not online, and just like make it easier for everyone,” she said on the podcast of her relationship with Ethan. “Obviously, I was not met with any grace or compassion.” Now, Hacmon says that because he no longer considers Ethan family after the scandal, it’s fair game to talk about them.

Paytas alleged that Ethan would spread lies about her family after the podcast ended and mocked her most traumatizing moments, like being molested by a teacher as a child. Paytas hoped that Ethan would stop talking about her and her family on the podcast, and once she heard the show was going on hiatus, she felt relief before she found out the reason why. “When he announced the podcast was over, I just felt relief, and that makes me really sad,” she said of learning about the affair. “I’m really ashamed to say that because it’s an awful situation, like the way that it had to end.” Hacmon had more to say from his perspective. “I was in tears because I read the statement from my sister. Even though I don’t talk to her, I don’t hate anyone … It was very, very painful to read and to find out what was happening,” he said. “I warned her in the past that he’s a liar and he lies.”

After the podcast was out, Paytas shared an additional video to her TikTok regarding the scandal. “To address the recent events surrounding Ethan and Hila, we have been no-contact with them for five years, zero communication, so we are not privy to any inside information. We are not totally on the outside of it either. Obviously, I knew both of them and it’s sad. We have children the same age as them and that’s a devastating situation to be in,” she said in the TikTok video. “That’s really my only comment on their current situation because I do not know them anymore. I can only talk about the part that was in my life and that’s all I will be talking about when I do interviews because I don’t know the current situation.”

Paytas also has a memoir, Crying on the Kitchen Floor, coming out soon and says she did promotional interviews and press for it before all this information came to light. A huge scandal acting as free promo for her upcoming book? That’s Trisha magic.
