Gov’t to focus on fiscal discipline, debt sustainability in 2027 Budget – Report
by Miss Naa · MyNewsGh.comDirector of the Financial Sector Division at the Ministry of Finance, Louis Kwame Amo, has outlined the government’s focus on creating a stable environment for banks, businesses and investors.
Speaking on behalf of Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson at the commissioning of Absa Bank Ghana’s new head office on Friday, September 25, Mr Amo said government’s responsibility was to create conditions that would support lending, investment and long-term capital.
“Our job is to create an environment in which banks can lend, businesses can invest and capital can take a long-term view of Ghana,” he said.
He said businesses and financial institutions must build on that stability by turning it into investment and employment.
“Your job is to help turn the stability into enterprise, investment and jobs,” he added.
Mr Amo also hinted at some of the issues expected to feature in the 2027 Budget Statement, including maintaining fiscal discipline, keeping public debt sustainable and strengthening financial stability.
He said government would also focus on entrenching price stability, building Ghana’s external buffers and deepening the capital market.
