A fresh detail has emerged from the helicopter crash that killed Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo, with co-pilot Captain Courage Mutavirwa reportedly leaving behind a pregnant wife just seven months after their wedding.

Mutavirwa was among the five people confirmed by Zimbabwean police to have died when the helicopter crashed at Kudenga Farm in Marondera on September 30.

Chivayo, his wife Lucy Rujeko Muteke, her aide Saneliswe Magagula and pilot Calvin Tafirei Soda were also killed.

According to a fresh update shared on Facebook, Mutavirwa married his wife in March 2026, meaning their marriage lasted only about seven months before the fatal crash.

His wife is now mourning her husband while carrying their unborn child. Mutavirwa was reportedly raised in Section 66, Triangle, where his father served as the area’s clerk.

He attended Mpapa Primary School before proceeding to Mtilikwi Secondary School.

From his modest beginnings in Triangle, Mutavirwa went on to pursue a career in aviation and eventually became a helicopter co-pilot.

His death has now left behind a young widow and an unborn child, with his family and friends mourning a life cut short only months after he began a new chapter with his wife.
