Jennie, Han So Hee, Seulgi spotlight under-eye liner makeup trend

Jennie, Han So Hee, and Seulgi are putting under-eye liner back in the beauty spotlight, as a July 24, 2026 feature named the once-avoided detail as one of the season's hot idol makeup trends.

The look focuses on filling the lower lash line to give the eyes more shape and depth. Instead of making the makeup feel heavy, the technique draws attention to the eye area when paired with balanced cheek and lip colors.

Jennie wore a clean black version of the trend. A thin black liner framed her eyes, while the lower waterline added neat definition. Her sharp wing made the eyes appear longer, and a fuller touch of highlighter at the inner corners made the gaze look clearer.

Han So Hee chose a softer brown approach. She filled the lower line with brown and lightly blended brown shadow under the eyes for a deeper yet pure mood. The feature noted that brown shadow can look like dark circles if applied too heavily, so light layering keeps the effect natural.

KATSEYE's Yoonchae played with contrast by drawing clear liner above and below the eyes, then adding a thick highlight at the inner corners. The bright highlight made the eyes look larger, while visible freckles and wide horizontal blush created a witty, girlish finish.

aespa's Giselle went bold with black pencil liner filled down to the lower eye area for a smoky look. Thick lines above and below the eyes gave the gaze a strong presence, while a dark lip line and brown inner lip color added a dramatic 90s mood.

Yuna and Seulgi showed the softer side of the same trend with bright brown underlines. The feature pointed out that brown makes the overall impression gentler than black, and suggested using deeper brown near the outer corners and lighter brown toward the inner corners for a smoother gradient.
