JYP Entertainment Donates 200,000 USD to Support Venezuela Earthquake Relief Efforts
by K-Soul · allkpopJYP Entertainment has donated 300 million KRW (approximately 200,000 USD) to aid recovery efforts following the devastating earthquake in Venezuela.
On June 26, JYP announced that it had contributed 300 million KRW to international relief and development NGO World Vision to support emergency relief efforts for those affected by the disaster.
Venezuela was struck by a powerful earthquake on June 24, followed by a series of aftershocks. Within two days, the death toll had surpassed 900. As of the morning of June 26, more than 3,000 people had been injured, while the number of displaced residents had exceeded 4,000.
JYP's donation will be used to provide emergency food and daily necessities, clean water and sanitation support, and psychological and emotional care for children and residents affected by the disaster.
"We hope this contribution can offer even a small source of strength to the children and residents who have lost their homes due to this unexpected disaster," JYP said. "We sincerely hope the affected communities regain stability as soon as possible and that everyone can safely return to their daily lives."
JYP has consistently maintained a culture of charitable giving rather than making one-time donations. Over the past year alone, the company has contributed more than 1.1 billion KRW (approx. 713,000 USD) to support recovery efforts following the wildfires in South Gyeongsang and North Gyeongsang provinces, the Myanmar earthquake, and a major fire in Hong Kong.
The company has also provided significant humanitarian aid in previous years, including 500 million KRW for relief efforts after the 2023 Türkiye-Syria earthquake, 300 million KRW for wildfire recovery in Gangwon and North Gyeongsang in 2022, and 500 million KRW (approx. 324,000 USD) to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in 2020.
In addition to disaster relief, JYP continues to operate its EDM (Every Dream Matters!) campaign, which provides financial assistance for medical treatment to children and teenagers.
