On June 21, Red Velvet member Seulgi shared her first update on a fan platform after the sudden passing of her cousin, creator Suki Jin. She greeted fans by asking, "You worried a lot, right?" and shared, "I have been eating well, sleeping well, and doing fine while preparing for the album."

She explained why she decided to post, saying, "I thought I shouldn't come too late... and I came to show you I am doing well so your worries wouldn't grow." She also thanked everyone for their support: "Your words of comfort helped a lot, and the members, my family, and the company staff have all been very considerate, so I am doing well. Please don't worry anymore."

Her cousin, Suki Jin, passed away from a sudden accident on June 7. The sad news was shared on Suki Jin's YouTube channel on June 11. Suki Jin was a content creator who had appeared in Seulgi's vlog videos before, and the two were known to be very close.
In a recently released video, Seulgi showed her deep affection for her cousin by saying, "I wanted to be like a real older sister to you," which made the news even more heartbreaking. After the news, Seulgi temporarily stopped uploading videos to her own YouTube channel, 'Hi Seulgi', to take time to mourn.
