IU once again extended a helping hand in celebration of Children’s Day, continuing her long-standing tradition of giving.

On May 5 KST, IU donated 50 million KRW (approximately $34,000 USD) to the Korea Child Welfare Association. The contribution was made under the name “IU-AENA,” a combination of her name and her official fan club UAENA, adding special meaning to the gesture.

The donation will be used to support the welfare and healthy development of children living in child care facilities across Korea. IU has consistently shown care for underprivileged children, making significant donations every Children’s Day.

Her philanthropic efforts extend far beyond this occasion. Last year, she donated a total of 150 million KRW to organizations supporting youth preparing for independence and children with disabilities, including Eden Iville and Hansarang Village.

Since her debut in 2008, IU has continued to give back under the name “IU-AENA” on meaningful occasions such as her birthday, debut anniversary, and year-end holidays, establishing herself as one of the entertainment industry’s most recognized philanthropists.

In 2019, she was also named the youngest honoree on Forbes Asia’s “30 Heroes of Philanthropy,” further demonstrating her positive global influence. From disaster relief to improving working conditions for firefighters, IU has consistently provided support wherever it is needed.

Meanwhile, IU is currently starring in the MBC drama 'Perfect Crown' alongside Byeon Woo Seok, contributing to its strong viewership ratings.
