Girls' Generation's Hyoyeon opens up about opening a restaurant in LA and the business failing

Girls' Generation's Hyoyeon shared her story of a business failure.

On October 4, Hyoyeon and Brian Joo appeared as special guests on SBS Power FM's talk show 'Cultwo Show.'

During the show, when the topic of business came up, DJ Kim Tae Gyun asked, "Hyoyeon, have you ever tried running a business?" Hyoyeon surprised everyone by revealing, "I opened a dumpling and buckwheat noodle restaurant in Los Angeles." She continued to explain, "I didn't go/work myself, my younger sibling and parents ran it. But due to visa issues, my parents couldn't manage it, so my siblings and their spouse took over."

Hyoyeon continued, "At that time, LA's temperature was consistently between 10 to 17 degrees Celsius (50 - 63 degress farenheit). Isn't LA supposed to be hot all the time? I was watching through CCTV, and everyone was wearing long sleeves and padded jackets," she said. "Buckwheat noodles sell well in the summer, but eventually, the business failed."

She added, "The maintenance costs, combined with my sibling’s housing expenses, were enormous. I’ve decided I’ll never open a business again," sharing her bitter experience with a hint of humor.

Kim Tae Gyun also shared his own business failure story. He said, "When my performances were doing well in Daehangno, I opened a store and tried different businesses, but it didn’t work out. I ended up trading it for land in Chungju. But nothing grows on the land, and I can’t sell it, so it's just sitting there." He continued, adding with a laugh, "The view is nice, but I should’ve paid more attention to the land itself."
