Steve Mcbee Sr. Is Home from Prison After Serving Less Than a Year for Federal Crop Insurance Fraud

Steve McBee Sr. returned to his family’s farm in Gallatin, Missouri, on Saturday and met his newest granddaughter, Tate, who was born while he was incarcerated. His sons Steven McBee Jr. and Cole McBee celebrated the reunion online, and Steve shared a video expressing gratitude for his family and the chance to appreciate everyday life again.

The “McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys” patriarch entered a federal prison camp in South Dakota in December 2025. He’d pleaded guilty in a crop insurance fraud scheme involving millions of dollars in benefits and received a 24-month sentence, followed by 2 years of supervised release.

Steve was also ordered to pay more than $4 million in restitution and forfeit more than $3 million to the federal government. His participation in a prison program helped reduce his time behind bars, and he’s expected to spend several months in home confinement.

Before reporting to prison, Steve said he accepted responsibility and described the sentence as a “sabbatical.” His legal case and its effect on his family and Missouri farming operation have been documented on the Bravo series.
