Julius Elum, a man on X (formerly Twitter), sparked widespread debate online after dismissing the money sprayed at the traditional wedding of popular Nigerian streamers Peller and Jarvis in Lagos.
In a video posted to his X page, Elum wasted no time sharing his opinion, insisting that the total amount of naira notes thrown around at the ceremony did not add up to more than ₦5 million.
He described the guests in attendance as "broke people," arguing that the display fell well below what he would expect at a wedding of that profile.
Elum Sets His Own Spraying Standard
What drew even more attention than his criticism of the ceremony was the standard he set for himself.
Elum declared that whenever he attends a wedding, he would not feel comfortable unless he sprays a minimum of $30,000, which is roughly ₦45 million, adding that anything less would make him feel as though he had wasted his time showing up.
The bold statement quickly made the rounds online, with many users pushing back on his remarks while others questioned the logic behind comparing wealth at someone else's celebration.
