The announcement, made on a Monday, puts Dior ahead of the pack as the first major French house to reveal where its next cruise collection will land.

The Shanghai date marks Anderson’s first significant showing in Asia since he took the creative director role last year, and it caps off a packed calendar for the designer. He is due to present his spring 2026 women’s ready-to-wear collection in Paris on September 29, then stage a pre-fall show in Dublin on December 4, the label’s first-ever showing in Ireland. Before all that, he opened his run of destination shows with the Cruise 2027 collection in Los Angeles this past May.

Shanghai is far from unfamiliar territory for the house. Anderson steps into a city where his predecessor John Galliano, Dior’s creative director from 1996 to 2011, staged a cruise show in 2010 alongside a store opening and a retrospective exhibition. More recently, Dior held its pre-fall 2021 runway at the Long Museum and celebrated its Miss Dior fragrance with an exhibition at the Fosun Foundation last year, keeping the brand’s presence in the city consistent across the past decade and a half.

The move also lands at a pointed moment for the wider luxury market. Anderson’s American destination shows have coincided with a tentative recovery for luxury brands stateside, while the outlook across Asia has stayed uneven, giving the Shanghai showing added weight as a read on the region.
