Pophouse Entertainment has officially acquired a 50% stake in the publishing and master music rights of Australian singer-songwriter Sia in a deal valued at $180 million USD. The partnership sees the Sweden-based entertainment and music investment firm step in to steward her body of work while developing new creative ventures surrounding her discography.
The $180 million USD transaction encompasses major milestones across Sia’s catalog, including chart-topping tracks like “Chandelier,” “Titanium,” “Cheap Thrills,” “Unstoppable,” and “Elastic Heart.” According to reports, $165 million USD of the payment applies to works composed prior to her marriage to Dan Bernad, while $15 million USD for songs written during their marriage will be held in escrow until divorce terms are finalized.
Reflecting on the milestone partnership, Sia expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration: “I’m really excited to be working with Pophouse. These songs mean so much to me, and I love that they really understand that and want to take care of them. I’ve been making music for a very long time now, and it feels exciting to think about all the new and different ways these songs might get to live on and find people. I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can dream up together.”
The acquisition was financed through Pophouse Fund I, which closed reaching its €1 billion EUR hard cap alongside additional co-investment vehicles bringing total capital raised to over €1.2 billion EUR. Co-founded by ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus, Pophouse’s high-profile holdings also feature catalogs from Iron Maiden, Tina Turner, Kiss, Cyndi Lauper, Avicii, and Swedish House Mafia.
Further creative developments and brand ventures under the new partnership are expected to be announced by Sia and Pophouse.
