Summary

New Era Japan has released a five-piece headwear lineup built around DC's Batman and two landmark horror film franchises

The caps span the brand's fitted 59FIFTY, the pinched-crown 59FIFTY and 9FORTY A-Frame, and the five-panel retro PC 19TWENTY

Construction ranges from structured fitted crowns to adjustable, strapback builds in cotton and cotton-polyester blends

New Era Japan has unveiled a new capsule of caps featuring DC Comics’ Batman alongside the horror films A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th. The five-piece run spreads the three properties across four of the brand’s silhouettes, giving each license a shape that suits its attitude, from sharp, structured fitteds to softer, retro-leaning strapbacks.

Batman gets the widest spread, appearing on three different builds. The black 59FIFTY A-Frame takes New Era‘s signature fitted cap and pinches the crown at the top for a peaked, A-shaped profile. A proprietary stiffener sewn behind the front panel holds that shape firmly, and like every 59FIFTY, it skips an adjuster entirely in favor of fitted sizing offered in roughly one-centimeter steps. It is cut from a polyester and cotton blend.

For wearers who prefer an adjustable fit, the Batman 9FORTY A-Frame arrives in washed black cotton. It uses a single-panel front pinched at the crown, backed by the same shape-retaining stiffener, and sits slightly deeper on the head than a standard 9FORTY. The visor comes pre-curved out of the box, and a rear adjuster covers various head sizes. Rounding out the Batman trio is the black PC 19TWENTY, a five-panel cap with a retro baseball shape, a rear strap for sizing, and a cotton and polyester build.

The horror side of the drop splits across two silhouettes. A Nightmare on Elm Street lands on the classic 59FIFTY in olive, the only non-black colorway in the lineup, with the same stiffened front panel and adjuster-free fitted construction. New Era points out that dropping the adjuster keeps the back of the cap clean and lets the crown follow the shape of the head more closely. Friday the 13th, meanwhile, takes the black PC 19TWENTY in all-cotton, giving the franchise the lineup’s most relaxed, vintage-leaning profile.

The pairing of properties is a natural fit for the season. Batman first appeared in DC’s comics in 1939, while A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th launched two of the most enduring slasher franchises of the 1980s, introducing Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees to horror fans. With the lineup surfacing in late September, the capsule lines up neatly with the run-up to Halloween, when horror-themed merch traditionally peaks.

The Batman, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th caps are listed now on New Era Japan’s online store.
