Eyeing the listings in real estate agent windows is a popular pastime for those visiting Australian holiday destinations over summer, but how do you know if the property you covet is in a bona fide holiday home hotspot? That is, somewhere that will deliver wonderful family memories and genuine capital growth.

Using unoccupied housing data – which shows the number of homes that are not permanently lived in – as a proxy for holiday home concentration, the research team at Ray White identified Australia’s 10 most popular locations to own a holiday home.
