Leading directors say appointing ASX chairmen is a ‘dog’s breakfast’

Allan Davies was one of the founding directors of Qube Holdings, a logistics company founded by Chris Corrigan in 2007 and which is in the throes of being bought by a Macquarie Asset Management-led consortium for $11.7 billion.
One day in 2016 Davies fielded a call from long-time colleague Corrigan, who was then chair of Qube. Corrigan wanted Davies to drop in for a chat. Davies obliged, and the conversation went something like this:
