‘A lot of value to be created’: Elliott Investment on Northern Star

Elliott Investment Management has hailed Northern Star’s refreshed board as evidence that the two can put months of public acrimony behind them and work constructively to improve the stuttering performance of the country’s largest gold miner and unlock more value for shareholders.
Elliott, a United States-based activist hedge fund founded by Paul Singer, owns 6.24 per cent of Northern Star, and this month had two of its preferred directors appointed to the gold miner’s board: former Woodside Energy director Mark Cutifani, a former chief executive of Anglo American, and mining veteran Peter Rozenauers.
