Winning might be one of the country’s best-known high-end whitegoods retailers, but it is a company whose staff are increasingly worried about a dysfunctional culture, with a raft of senior employees heading for the door and mounting legal woes.
The retailer, founded by its namesake family more than a century ago, is known for glitzy showrooms stocked with premium kitchen and laundry brands such as handleless Wolf steam ovens and Sub Zero fridges, which can sell for more than $20,000. It has a heavyweight backer in Ellerston Capital and is heading for a float that may value the business at $1 billion.
