Maxis expands Home Solar Offering with new Outright Purchase plan

Today, Maxis has announced the expansion of its Maxis Home Solar offerings with the introduction of a new Outright Purchase option for Malaysian households. The new plan complements the company’s existing subscription-based solar programme launched in 2025, giving homeowners greater flexibility in how they adopt renewable energy solutions for their homes.

Designed for Homeowners Seeking Full Solar Ownership

Unlike the subscription model, the new Outright Purchase option is targeted at homeowners who prefer complete ownership of their solar system while maximising long-term cost savings. According to Maxis, households can potentially reduce their monthly electricity bills by up to 80% through solar adoption, with the initial investment recoverable within approximately three to five years, depending on energy usage patterns and system configuration.

To improve affordability, Maxis is also offering 0% interest instalment plans for up to 36 months through selected banking partners. Pricing for the outright ownership package starts from RM20,499, or approximately RM570 monthly under the financing programme.

Complimentary Maintenance and Insurance Included

Customers who sign up before 31 May 2026 will also receive up to five years of complimentary maintenance, insurance coverage, and solar performance monitoring. The insurance package covers accidental damage involving solar PV system components such as solar panels and inverters, helping reduce unexpected maintenance or repair costs for homeowners.

Maxis says the offering is designed to provide a more worry-free renewable energy experience by combining installation, post-sales support, system monitoring, and warranty services under a single ecosystem.

Aligning With Malaysia’s Renewable Energy Push

The expansion arrives at a time when Malaysia is placing a stronger emphasis on renewable energy adoption and household energy self-sufficiency. The company noted that the new solar ownership option also supports the government’s Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme, better known as Solar ATAP, which encourages households to reduce dependency on conventional electricity usage while managing long-term energy cost volatility.

As electricity tariff concerns continue growing among Malaysians, residential solar adoption has become increasingly attractive, particularly for landed property owners looking to offset rising utility expenses.
