The epicentre was located 162.4 kilometres east-northeast of Nikolski and about 1,594.9 kilometres northeast of Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city.

There were no initial reports of casualties or material damage following the earthquake.

People in the affected area reported feeling the tremors after the quake struck.

The earthquake occurred at considerable depth, with its epicentre more than 100 kilometres below the surface.

Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city, has a population of approximately 291,200.

Authorities and residents were assessing the situation following the earthquake, with no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries.
