Actor Sonali Kulkarni said on Wednesday night that she was left stranded in heavy traffic for more than five hours while travelling from Mumbai to Pune. Sharing her experience on social media, the Dil Chahta Hai actor described the situation at Mumbai's Mankhurd bridge as "extremely scary."
Kulkarni posted a video after stepping out of her car, showing long, unmoving queues of vehicles around her. The visuals captured severe traffic gridlock, and she said there was no clarity on when the congestion would ease.
In the video, Kulkarni said, "Hi, I am here on Mankhurd bridge. It’s been exactly five hours that we are stuck here. I am going towards Pune. You can see the traffic behind me and ahead of me. We called the traffic control team; they are saying to have patience (sic)."
She added that the jam was so severe that those stuck could neither move ahead nor turn back.
"The jam is really bad and they are not sure when it will get resolved. We can’t cross. We are completely stuck because we can’t turn back either. Pray for us. Police, if you know anything or can come from the other side and give us an update, then please do. We can’t even say we are hungry, it’s beyond that. I know people must have gone through much worse situations than us, but this is scary, five hours at just one position (sic)," she added.
On the professional front, Kulkarni made her Hindi film debut with Dil Chahta Hai in 2001, in which she was paired opposite Saif Ali Khan. She has since worked in Hindi and Marathi cinema, with credits including Deool, Natrang, Doghi, Taxi No. 9211 and Singham.
Kulkarni has not yet shared any new update on the traffic situation since last night.
