Meta has announced the global rollout of Meta Business Agent. This is an AI-powered assistant that is designed to help businesses automate their customer interactions and manage daily operations. The new business AI is available on Meta’s three platforms: WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.
According to Meta, more than one million businesses are already using a Meta Business Agent on WhatsApp and Messenger. The company said, “We're now expanding our Business Agent to businesses big and small globally so within minutes you can have yours up and running, responding in your customer's local language using your tone.”
The new business agent is capable of answering customer queries, recommending products from a catalogue, booking appointments, qualifying leads, and even helping businesses close sales. Companies can also choose when conversations should be transferred to a human representative.
Meta expands AI capabilities beyond customer support
Meta is also expanding the Business Agent to Instagram, allowing businesses to manage customer interactions across multiple platforms from a single AI-powered system.
Apart from customer service, the company is testing new features that turn the assistant into a business operations tool. So now the AI can provide the owner with morning briefings summarising conversations that took place overnight and offer insights from customer interactions. These capabilities are currently being tested with a select group of businesses using WhatsApp Business, Instagram Pro, Messenger, and Meta Business Suite.
In the future, Meta plans to expand the agent's capabilities further by enabling functions such as market research, product insights, calendar management, and competitive intelligence.
The company is also making it easier for users to discover businesses powered by Meta Business Agent. Soon, WhatsApp users will be able to find businesses by searching for their names or by sharing business contact details within chats.
New Platform for Large Enterprises
Alongside the rollout, Meta also unveiled the Meta Business Agent Platform, which will allow businesses to build and deploy custom AI agents on a larger scale.
The platform will support integrations with hundreds of business tools, including Shopify and Zendesk, enabling AI agents to access business systems and perform actions on behalf of companies. Meta said the platform includes enterprise-grade controls, safeguards, and measurement tools for larger organisations.
While businesses can currently use the Business Agent free of charge, Meta confirmed that it plans to monetise the service through paid subscription offerings in the coming months. The company said pricing options will cater to businesses of different sizes.
