Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra gets Rs 41,999 cheaper on Amazon, Great Freedom Sale may slash price further

If you have been waiting for the right time to buy Samsung's flagship, this could be worth keeping an eye on. But there is a small catch.

Amazon's pricing appears to vary depending on where you check it. On the desktop version of Amazon's website, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (12GB RAM + 256GB storage) is listed at Rs 88,000 in select colour options. That effectively brings the price down by Rs 41,999 from its original launch price of Rs 1,29,999. Interestingly, the same variant is listed at Rs 89,999 on Amazon's mobile app, which still translates to a sizeable Rs 40,000 discount. The good news is that these are direct price cuts and don't require bank offers or exchange deals to unlock the savings.

Great Freedom Sale could bring an even better deal

While the current offer is already attractive, Amazon has also started promoting the Galaxy S25 Ultra as one of the highlighted smartphones in its upcoming Great Freedom Sale. The final sale price has not been revealed yet (at the time of writing this article), but the teaser suggests that buyers can expect major discounts. It remains to be seen whether Amazon simply continues with the existing offer or lowers the price even further once the sale officially starts on August 7.

The biggest reason for offering such a big discount is that the Galaxy S25 Ultra is no longer Samsung's latest flagship. The phone is now more than one-and-a-half years old, and premium smartphones usually see steep price drops as newer models arrive. That said, age doesn't necessarily mean the phone has become outdated.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra still delivers flagship-level performance for everyday use, handles demanding games comfortably at medium graphics settings, and continues to offer one of the best camera systems in the Android segment. For buyers who always wanted Samsung's Ultra experience but couldn't justify the launch price, the current discount makes the phone much more accessible.

Should you buy it now or wait for the Galaxy S27 Ultra?

The answer depends on what you are looking for. If you are getting a discount of around Rs 40,000 and want a premium Android phone right away, the Galaxy S25 Ultra still offers excellent value. It remains a capable flagship with a large display, powerful hardware, S Pen support and versatile cameras.

However, if you don't urgently need a new phone and are willing to wait for Samsung's next major upgrade, holding off for the Galaxy S27 Ultra could make more sense. The next-generation flagship is rumoured to arrive in about six months and is rumoured to bring more meaningful improvements than the Galaxy S26 Ultra did.

Leaks suggest Samsung could introduce a larger 5,200mAh to 5,500mAh battery using silicon-carbon technology, a new 16-megapixel selfie camera, upgraded 200-megapixel primary camera, redesigned 50-megapixel ultra-wide and telephoto cameras, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro for Galaxy chipset, and a new "Polar ID" authentication feature. The overall design is expected to remain similar to the current Ultra series, while the S Pen is likely to stay unchanged. On the other hand, some previously rumoured upgrades, including LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage, are now said to have been dropped.

For buyers using an older flagship or planning a long-term upgrade, waiting for the Galaxy S27 Ultra may be worthwhile. But if your goal is to grab a premium Samsung flagship at one of its lowest prices yet, the Galaxy S25 Ultra's current Amazon deal is among the strongest offers seen so far, with the possibility of an even bigger discount during the Great Freedom Sale.
