US President Donald Trump on Friday said European countries had agreed to release a "massive amount" of their diesel oil stocks as fuel prices continue to rise amid tightening global supplies, with the move coming ahead of the US midterm elections.
"Europe has just agreed to release a massive amount of their heavily stocked Diesel Oil. The process will begin immediately," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
The development comes a day after the US warned France and Germany to release diesel reserves or face an export ban. However, Trump did not provide details on the volume of diesel to be released or identify the European countries involved.
