- The group plans to increase publicly listed entities from three to five
- Each entity targets over 18 per cent return on equity
- A new GI identifier will front the corporate brand system
Godrej Industries laid down a clear statement of intent last week, setting its sights on achieving a combined market cap of over Rs. 5,00,000 crore for its businesses by 2031.
The Group whose companies operate in industries as diverse as consumer products, real estate, financial services, agriculture and chemicals, made the announcement on the sidelines of an event at the group’s headquarters in Vikhroli, Mumbai to launch its new brand purpose and identity.
Godrej Industries intends to expand its portfolio of publicly listed entities from three to five. Its consumer, property and agri-business entities already trade on the Indian exchanges.
Each entity will aim to deliver an over 18-percent return on equity at a steady state. The target for the Group as a whole is to generate sales growth of over 15 percent and earnings per share growth of over 20 percent a year.
These actions will pave the way for Godrej Industries to achieve its market cap ambitions.
New corporate brand system
The Group’s growth objectives were laid out as part of a holistic brand refresh, in its effort to create a more unified and future facing corporate brand system.
The refreshed identity does not replace the iconic Godrej signature logo, which continues unchanged across all consumer-facing products and services. Instead, a “GI” identifier has been introduced to represent Godrej Industries Group as a corporate entity, particularly for stakeholder audiences such as investors, media and talent. Designed to be elemental and restrained, the GI identifier will always be used alongside the Godrej signature or company name, ensuring it complements rather than competes with the legacy mark.
“This refreshed brand identity reflects both who we are and where we are going. It reinforces the strength of the Godrej brand while creating a more contemporary and unified expression of our ambitions for tomorrow. It enables each of our businesses to connect more powerfully to a shared purpose while remaining true to their distinct roles,” said Tanya Dubash, Executive Director and Chief Brand Officer, Godrej Industries.
The purpose statement, ‘Crafting tomorrow since 1897’, celebrates the Godrej Group’s legacy while clearly positioning the new, refreshed Godrej Industries for the future.
It underlines Godrej Industries’ intent to ensure its quest for growth remains rooted in Godrej Group founder Ardeshir Godrej’s values-driven business philosophy, referred to as ‘The Godrej Way’.
The same is reflected in how the group has articulated purpose at the business level. Each business purpose is expressed as a simple two-word construct. The first word is Crafting, which comes directly from the Group purpose and reflects how they build; with intent, care and accountability. The second word reflects the specific outcome that business enables; whether it’s Goodness for Godrej Consumer Products, Joy for Godrej Properties, Abundance for Godrej Agrovet , Innovation for Godrej Chemicals, Prosperity for Godrej Capital or Inspiration for Godrej Ventures.
“Crafting tomorrow since 1897 reflects the belief that values and results must go hand in hand. As we scale, this philosophy will continue to guide how we build businesses that are both successful and responsible,” said Pirojsha Godrej, Chairperson Designate, Godrej Industries Group who takes over as Group Chairperson in August 2026.
These values, playing out across the pillars of people and planet in addition to performance, are equally critical enablers for Godrej Industries to realise its ambitions going forward.
On the planet front, Godrej Industries believes sustainable and responsible growth is a source of enduring advantage. The future will reward businesses that grow responsibly by decarbonising, designing circular systems, strengthening communities, and investing in innovation that scales impact. In 2025, Godrej Consumer Products and Godrej Properties were both ranked number one globally in their respective categories on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Sustainability Indices. Building on this foundation, the Group has outlined ambitions including net-zero operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 2035 and a planet-positive supply chain by 2047.
On the people front, the group is focused on building a culture where people can do their best work, where standards are high, opportunity is real, and support is unwavering. It aims to achieve 40% representation of women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and persons with disabilities across the Group over the next five years, a goal which has already been achieved by Godrej Properties and the Group’s corporate center.
Doing business without compromising on values has always been the essence of The Godrej Way. It will continue to guide Godrej Industries as it scripts the next chapter in the Godrej story.
