Jaipur woman killed by live-in partner, body buried in rented house garden

A woman was allegedly killed by her live-in partner and buried in the garden of their Jaipur rented house. The discovery by the landlord has triggered a manhunt and an investigation into the motive.

A 32-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner in Jaipur, with her body buried in the garden of their rented house before he fled, police said on Sunday. The case came to light after the landlord visited the property and found it locked.

Police said the woman, identified as Kiran, had been living in the house with Pravesh, 22, who had introduced her as his wife when taking the house on rent around two months ago. Both were from Uttar Pradesh, police said.

According to police, the rented house is in Prestige Colony in the Bindayaka area. Bindayaka Station House Officer Anil Kumar said preliminary assessment suggested that Pravesh killed Kiran two to three days ago, dug a pit in the garden at night and buried her body there before locking the house and fleeing.

On Sunday morning, when the landlord arrived to inspect the property, he found the house locked. After asking neighbours about the couple, he checked the premises and noticed freshly dug soil in the garden. On examining the spot, he saw a woman's hand protruding from the ground and immediately informed the police.

Police exhumed the body with the help of a forensics team and sent it to Kanwatia Hospital for post-mortem. They said Pravesh worked at a factory in Bindayaka. Teams have been formed to trace him, and police are also trying to contact the woman's family in Uttar Pradesh.

Police said the motive behind the alleged murder and the circumstances leading to it are being investigated. The case centres on the death of Kiran, whose body was found buried in the garden of the rented house after the accused fled.
