- Amazon has cut both Pro models by Rs 10,000 during Prime Day
- SBI and Axis Bank card users can claim an extra Rs 4,000
- The Pro Max offers a larger display bigger battery and vapour cooling
Apple's latest Pro iPhones don't usually get big discounts this soon after launch, especially the Pro and Pro Max models. That is why the latest Amazon Prime Day Sale offer is likely to grab the attention of buyers who have been waiting for the right time to upgrade. Both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are currently available with a flat price cut, and buyers can reduce the cost further using eligible bank cards. The combined benefit goes up to Rs 14,000, making this one of the best deals available on Apple's latest flagship phones.
The biggest discount is available through a combination of an instant price reduction and bank offer. The iPhone 17 Pro Max, which was launched at Rs 1,49,900, is currently listed at Rs 1,39,900 during the Amazon Prime Day Sale. This means Amazon is offering a flat discount of Rs 10,000. Buyers using eligible SBI or Axis Bank cards can get an additional discount of Rs 4,000, bringing the effective price down to Rs 1,35,900. Overall, the total benefit reaches Rs 14,000.
A similar offer is available on the iPhone 17 Pro as well. The 256GB Blue colour variant, which debuted at Rs 1,34,900, is now selling for Rs 1,24,900. Just like the Pro Max, this includes a flat Rs 10,000 discount. An extra Rs 4,000 bank discount with SBI or Axis Bank cards further reduces the effective price to Rs 1,20,900, taking the total savings to Rs 14,000.
Should you buy the iPhone 17 Pro or the Pro Max?
For many buyers, the decision will come down to size and battery life rather than performance. Both smartphones are powered by Apple's A19 Pro chip and offer a similar flagship experience in day-to-day use. They also feature premium build quality, advanced camera systems and long software support.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is aimed at users who prefer a larger display and longer battery life. It features a 6.9-inch screen, a 4,823mAh battery, 12GB RAM, 40W wired charging support and three 48-megapixel rear cameras. Apple has also added a vapour chamber cooling system to improve thermal performance during demanding tasks. Video recording continues to be one of the biggest strengths of the Pro Max, making it a solid choice for creators who frequently shoot content on their phones.
The regular iPhone 17 Pro, however, offers almost the same performance and camera experience in a smaller and lighter body. Buyers who find large phones uncomfortable to carry or use with one hand may find the Pro to be the more practical option. Since it now costs considerably less than the Pro Max during the sale, it also offers better value for those who do not specifically need the bigger display or extra battery life.
Should you buy now or wait for the iPhone 18 Pro?
In previous years, the easy answer would have been to wait. Apple has often reduced the official prices of older iPhones after introducing a new generation, and retailers usually add attractive bank offers on top of those price cuts. However, things may not be as predictable this year.
Apple CEO Tim Cook recently acknowledged in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that price increases across Apple's product lineup could become unavoidable because of rising component costs.
"Unfortunately, price increases are unavoidable," Cook said. "We're doing our best to mitigate the huge increases that are being passed to us, and we've been trying to shield our customers from the increases, but the situation has become unsustainable."
The concern is linked to the rising cost of memory and storage chips, which have become more expensive as AI companies continue investing heavily in infrastructure and data centres. Apple has not confirmed whether future iPhones will become more expensive, but Cook's comments have created uncertainty around upcoming pricing.
Leaks suggest the iPhone 18 Pro could bring upgrades such as a smaller Dynamic Island, Apple's A20 Pro chip, a newer modem, a slightly larger battery and camera improvements. While those additions may make the next-generation model more attractive, it is also expected to launch at a much higher price than the current discounted iPhone 17 Pro.
For buyers planning to upgrade in the near future, the current Amazon Prime Day Sale offers are difficult to ignore. The iPhone 17 Pro already delivers flagship performance, faster charging, improved cameras and 256GB of standard storage. With a total discount of Rs 14,000 and uncertainty around future iPhone pricing, buying the latest Pro model now could turn out to be a better decision than waiting for the next generation.
