A video showing two bears fighting in the middle of a road in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district has sparked concern among local residents.

The incident occurred late night on May 5 on the Thal-Didihat motorway and was captured by a man from inside a car.

In the video, two black bears were seen wrestling with each other in the middle of the road for over a minute. After a brief struggle, one of the bears eventually walked off the road and disappeared downhill while the other stood by the roadside.

The sight of the wild animals blocking the route has created panic in the area, especially because two-wheelers and other vehicles continue to travel along the motorway during nighttime hours.

Following the incident, several locals demanded increased surveillance and tighter security measures along the route. Residents have urged the forest department to monitor animal movement in the area more closely in order to prevent any untoward incidents involving commuters.
