A 52-year-old vegetable vendor was stabbed to death by his three nephews following a dispute over the repayment of a Rs 60,000 loan in Gujarat’s Rajkot on Monday, police said. The victim, identified as Cheena Jadeja, succumbed to his injuries two days after the attack.

Police have arrested all three accused, Kamlesh alias Yogo Parmar, Vijay Parmar and Amit alias Hojari Parmar, who are the victim's nephews.

Jadeja had borrowed Rs 60,000 from his nephew, Kamlesh, around seven months ago to cover the cost of his medical treatment after developing a heart condition.

However, according to the complaint filed at the police station, poor business had left him struggling to repay the loan.

Despite repeated demands for the money, Jadeja had sought more time, assuring Kamlesh that he would repay the amount once his financial condition improved.

The dispute escalated at around 7.30 pm on Monday when Kamlesh, along with his brothers Vijay and Amit Parmar, confronted Jadeja over the delayed repayment.

An argument broke out after he expressed his inability to return the money immediately, following which the three assaulted him.

During the confrontation, Kamlesh pulled out a knife from his waistband and stabbed Jadeja in the abdomen. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment but died on Wednesday after succumbing to his injuries.

Police have arrested all three accused in connection with the incident.
