Delhi man stays at Udaipur 5-star hotel, leaves without paying Rs 5.74 lakh bill

A Delhi man, who travelled to Udaipur from August 14 to 23 and stayed at the five-star The Oberoi Udaivilas with his wife and two children, has been accused of leaving the venue without paying a Rs 5.74 lakh bill.

A person from Delhi, who recently visited Udaipur with his wife and two children, allegedly left a five-star hotel where they stayed at without paying a bill of Rs 5.74 lakh.

According to a police complaint filed by The Oberoi Udaivilas, a travel agency made the booking for one Anurag Yadav through email on August 12. Subsequently, he and his family stayed at the hotel from August 14 to 23.

They allegedly availed various services from the hotel, including lunch and dinner.

At the time of the check-out on August 24, the family was presented with a bill of Rs 5.74 lakh for the 10-day stay and other services they were provided. However, Yadav refused to make the payment, claiming that the travel agency would settle the bill on his behalf.

When contacted, the travel agency denied having any such arrangement with Yadav, according to the complaint filed by Ravindra Singh, liaisoning manager at The Oberoi Udaivilas.

The police have registered a case in the matter and begun an investigation. They said that Yadav worked for a private company in Delhi.

The police said that the incident prima facie appears to be a case of fraud by the tourist in collusion with the travel agency.
